Recent days I am aiding the teachers to correct the students compositions.  The most frustating and outrageous problem is the all most all the students write chinglish.  The typical chinese way of thinking, the typcial chinese way of organizing the sentence patterns,  and even the whole passages. We have spent such a  long time on acquiring the language skills, why is it so difficult for the chinese to write the naturlly-occurring english sentences. What is wrong with it?  The english teaching in china is really a failure!

It's really a challenge to correct the students' composition. Same as a ESL learner, more often than not I find that the mistakes they make just remind me of my own in my undergraduate days. The most common mistake lies not in grammar, but the way they compose sentences.  Those sentences sound strange, awkward, and unnatural. So sometimes I even can't figure out  where to start to  correct them, and sometimes even I myself don't know the correct version.
